I have always wanted to learn more about the roles of higher-ranking officers in both Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War. Through this website, I wanted to compile research about various topics regarding Civil War officers from numerous sources and display it in a digitally appealing manner. The selection, promotion, effectiveness, and varying levels of battle experience of Civil War officers were among a number of topicsĀ that I found to be interesting. There were differences between the Union and Confederate armies in regards to the topics that I chose that gave one side or the other an advantage during the war.

Hopefully through this website, you can gain deeper knowledge about the Union and Confederate army officers during the Civil War. Army performance is affected by the ability of leadership to effectively lead troops into battle which makes this topic significant when thinking about what factors led to the ultimate results of the Civil War.
